This past Sunday (August 25 of 2024) we decided to wander to a storied place located in the south of Puerto Rico, its located between the city limits of Yauco and Guayanilla. This Storied restaurant is called La Guardaraya. The restaurant has been opened since 1959 and is also where a popular puerto rican culinary sensation was born: the big “Chuleta kan-Kan”. Entering the gate of la guardaraya you are greeted by beautiful wood structures and trees giving shades around it. Upon entering the Dinning room you are greeted with 3 flags, the yauco flag on the left. the puerto rico flag in the middle and the Guayanilla flag on the right. finally we are shown our table and the menu are given to us. i ordered a Chuleta Kan kan, fried plantains and “arroz mamposteado” which is rice, beans and a bit of onions together. The “chuleta Kan-Kan” is an special cut pork chop that is boiled first and the fried to perfection; that is what it give its unique texture and crunchy crispy ends. my huge pork chops arrives with the rest of the meal and i have to say its was delicious. after finishing my giant Kan Kan i ordered Candied Lechoza (dulce de lechoza) with white cheese and some coffee and milk for dessert, both of them were good as well. i highly recommed you visit la guardaraya restaurant and try the legendary Chuleta Kan Kan for yourself. I shall Wander here again
